Toys

The toys in these paintings are never just toys. They become characters, memories and emotional symbols. In the expression of a worn teddy bear or a small plush animal I often find tenderness, vulnerability, nostalgia or comfort. Many of them have been with me for years and still live in my home. They carry stories that continue to evolve, allowing me to paint emotions that often feel more honest than those found in ordinary portraits.
